Funny Milk Commercial
This commercial was pretty neat.
Have you ever wanted eyes in the back or your head, to win the lottery, or to fly to the moon? This ad depicts an ideal town, where everyone gets everything they ever dreamed, and more. It tunes into your emotions and personal wants by showing happy grandma’s in Porsches, kids walking pet giraffes, and a teenage boy getting tucked into bed by a female swim team complete with flowing hair and toned bodies. Pathos is its source of inspiration and it was definitely very effective. The narrator has a calm masculine voice, and the background music is a bouncy (yet not overwhelming) polka, all evoking images of happiness and serenity. The commercial ends with a comment that Milk has proteins that help you sleep better, therefore enabling you to come back and visit this dream town. As far as egos and logos, it doesn’t offer much. Though, if you can recall that a glass of warm milk before bed is an old remedy for sleeplessness, this commercial could enforce that as a use of authority and logic. I did found myself thinking, “Well, yes, I have heard that.” As far as the success of the advertisement, I really do feel like I could use a glass of milk now…
